Job description
Flint Group is looking for a self-reliant formulation chemist to join their development team within Narrow Web ink technologies as an R&D Engineer. Flint Group manufactures and markets an extensive portfolio of conventional and energy curable inks, printing plates for flexo and letterpress, sleeve systems for flexographic applications, pigments and additives for use in inks and other colorant applications, printing blankets, sleeves and pressroom chemicals for offset printing. We offer our customers a unique portfolio of system solutions and technical service. New products are jointly developed together with customers and partners.

Responsibilities
You primary responsibility will be to design and develop high performance, new generation ink technology for Flint groups’ customers. You work with long-term projects from early development phase through upscaling and production line test. 

In this role you will provide industry leadership through the development of innovative products and processes, that will enable successful results for Flint Groups customers.

Essential responsibilities: 
Utilize your technical and chemical knowledge to develop new and innovative UV curable products for the pressure sensitive label,  shrink sleeves and flexible packaging markets 
Plan, execute and conclude product development work on assigned innovation projects in the field of UV curable ink systems, for the growing market segments like shrink sleeves and flexible packaging 
Be responsible for project tasks from feasibility study to product launch, including customer trials,  implementation in manufacturing and Quality Control
Lead or be part of multifunctional project teams involving interaction with different internal functions and also with external parties like customers, institutes, suppliers, co-suppliers 
Maintain dialogue with multiple stakeholders to secure efficient project execution, i.e. Flint Groups’ customers, technical support, manufacturing and sales
Report project progression and communicate the results through internal documents, customer trial reports, technical data sheets and presentations 


Qualifications
MSc or PhD in Organic Chemistry or Polymer Science     
Dedication and passion about printing inks in general and UV curable inks in specific
Fluent English language skills both verbal and in written 
Willingness to travel international to attend customer meeting/trials and industry events 
Great communication skills 

The ideal candidate for this position has previous experience of product development and formulation of products within polymer science such as paint, coatings or similar. We believe that an analytical mind-set with strong problem solving abilities, along with ability and willingness to absorb new technology and information are key factors to succeed in this role. Main Challenges
Plan, execute and conclude product development work on assigned projects within the agreed time frame
Lead or be part of project teams involving interaction with different functions as needed to complete the work
Navigate in defined project structure with multiple stakeholders to secure efficient project execution
Be responsible for project tasks from feasibility study to product launch, including customer trials, implementation in manufacturing and Quality Control
Utilize your technical and chemical knowledge to develop products, including formulating new ink systems, optimising existing products, or make technical recommendations to sales or technical personnel
Act within global regulatory environment and secure sustainable solutions for our customers
Fully complete assigned projects and communicate the results through internal documents, customer trial reports, technical data sheets and presentations

Requirements
